Thanksgiving Day in Arganda del Rey, España

Thursday, 24 November, 2016:

Happy Thanksgiving Day!

As I mentioned in yesterday's post, Laurie, Jesús and Bere were all fired up to celebrate an American Thanksgiving in Spain today and I was all for it!

Laurie and Bere were busy
in the kitchen so I had Luna
and Camila all to myself

As is always the case in these big family feasts, we needed some last minute items we had forgotten.

I was off to the pueblo to buy another container of butter, can't have enough of this in real cooking as you probably know, and some extra virgin olive oil.

Along the way, Iglesia de
Nuestra Señora la Virgen de
la Soledad was open

It rarely is open so I had to take a quick peek inside.

That's her all right

Nice iglesis inside

 The Iglesia's entry yard art
was pleasant too

 We didn't need fish or . . .

. . . ham

Armanda City Crest

Fully equipped, the feast was on!

Two kilo turkey breast
wrapped in bacon

The gravy and green beans
looked good

Our table was set

The wine was opened

Bere and Jesús were ready

The turkey breast had been carved

And the feast began

Proud of my bride as always

It was really good as always, THANKS LAURIE!

After our sumptuous meal, I received a scheduled call from Marco to be on his national radio talk show that deals with every thing American in the sports world.

He had me on for about ten minutes to discuss Thanksgiving Day weekend and its importance in the American sports universe at the high school, college and NFL levels.

I had fun, GRACIAS MARCO!

Now it was on to an Osos Rivas video review team meeting.

Commies are now into Archery

Let the meeting begin

I could only stay for the first 30 minutes of the meeting as I had to make the 45 minute drive to . . .

A Guadalajara Stings practice

As you can see, the Stings have a friendly scrimmage coming up in about two weeks at the home field of the Extremadura Gladiators.

Unfortunately, we won't be here to see it as we return home to California next Thursday.

Oklahoma Drill

Always good to aid the
blood flow

 Disengage!

 Finish!

It was indeed a good day and we do have so much to be thankful for.

Friday will be another huge day for us for many reasons including the . . .

109th Apple Cup Game
The Huskies lead the series
70-32-6

The winner is the PAC-12 Conference's North Division Champion and will play in the PAC-12 Championship Game a week from tomorrow again either Colorado or USC.
